Not sure, but assume requirement for information on processes which produce a black layer on nitrided or carbo-nitrided steels to enhance properties like anti-scuff and corrosion resistance. I have no specific expertise on these treatments, but know that there are many similar treatments to produce complex surface layers on carburized and nitrided steels usually to enhance lubricity and anti-scuff properties.
