: What are the safety and fire issues relative to cold spray of aluminum. Is there an explosion hazard due to the aluminum powder?

: Thanks

Hi Bob

Basically, the same as for the other thermal spray processes. Aluminium powder and the bye-products of the process are a potential hazard particularly with regard to fire, explosion and risk to heath through inhalation. Cold spray process may incur a higher risk of fire and explosion involving the over-spray material as this will probably be in a more reactive or less well oxidised state than that from other thermal spray methods.
