Hello Gordon. Can you tell me what the most suitable process and coating would be for providing a hardened surface on very thin sheets of CK60 spring steel, with minimal distortion and coating thickness (5 microns and under). The steel is around 0.15mm thick with a proud machined cutting edge of around 0.3mm (giving a .5mm total thickness). This is used in the printing industry and must maintain a high tolerance (+3 microns). We currently laser harden and achieve 68 rockwell of the cutting tip but this is inconsistent and we would like to improve both consistency and hardness whilst maintaining flexibility. Can you help?
