Hi Steve
I think the main problem area will be getting suitable grit blast preparation. Experiment with alumina or silicon carbide grits to obtain the best sharp etch. Be aware that this is probably one case where the coating may not perform as well as the original substrate, but may well be viable as a repair on an expensive component.
