: Does anyone have any experience of thermal spray coatings applied to cast iron, in particular SG iron. Info on expected bond strength compared to coatings on steel components would be appreciated

: Thanks

Hi Geoff

A minor reduction in adhesion strength may be expected, but nothing to worry about. Some cast irons though, can be porous and hold oil, cutting fluids etc. and care is needed to remove this before grit blasting and spraying or adhesion will be adversly effected.
