The Rockwell superficial HR 15T scale uses a 1/16" diameter ball indenter compared to the 1/2" diameter ball indenter of the HR 15Y scale. The scales are very far apart, HR 15T for hard materials like steel and HR 15Y for very soft plastics and abradable coatings. I would advise you to invest in a 1/2" diameter steel ball indenter for your hardness tester.

: we have to test the hardness of nickle graphite abradable coating in 15Y scale, which we are unable to locate the same, we have a superficial hardness tester which has up to T Scale, can we measure the same in that and convert it in RY?
: if yes can anybody send us the conversion table for the same (i.e. RT to RY)
: Thanks and regards
