If you contact your local Sulzer Metco office they will be able to talk to you about biocompatable coatings. They have installed many systems around the world which apply these coatings to implants (hip, knee, dental etc.) Gordon is absolutely correct in his description of the coatings "fooling" the body into thinking that the material is bone.
