: Dear Sir

: we had specified High grade Zinc (Zn 99.95%) for metallization for our LPG cylinders.

: We receive Zinc metallized and painted cylinders for online testing. What are the tests we can conduct on cylinders ( can be Destructive also) to ensure the quality of Zinc metallization.
: Is their any tests available to identify if PW grade Zinc (Zn 98.5%) is used for Zinc metallization.

Hi Sandeep

Non-destructive tests would be limited to general visual inspection and coating thickness measurements.

Destructive tests could include:
Coating bond strength using glue on dollies and pull-off tester.
Scribe-grid test.
Metallography.
Accelerated corrosion test.
Chemical analysis of coating.

Regards Gordon
