: Hello there,
: I am wondering if anyone knows of a process to spray weld ceramic on to HRS. We are trying to obtain a corosion resistant surface inside a grinder. The manufacturing process inherently involves sand which eats the HRS out quite quickly.
: Thanks

I would avoid any coating process which uses welding or fusing on this type of high carbon chromium steel. These are hot processes relative to the substrate and will change the metallurgical properties of the steel and probably cause cracking in the coating and steel.

HVOF applied tungsten carbide/cobalt type coating could be worth consideration. If applied correctly, this should not effect the properties of the HRS substrate and provide a very erosion/abrasion resistant coating.
