: : : : : Who can give me some idea about how to grind and polish the Al2O3+TiO2 plasma sprayed ceramic coating in concave surface? workingpiece was yarn guide wheel.
: : : : : they were without precise dimension requirement. But we hope to improve the efficiency in grinding.
: : : : : I appreciate if I can get reply.

: : : : Hi Jian

: : : : What grinding and polishing methods have you tried and what finish or texture do you require?
: : : : Normally, diamond grinding initially with 150 grit wheels are recommended, but with your application it may be worth considering a brushing method particularly if dimensional or flatness are not important factors.

: : : : Regards Gordon

: : : Hi Gordon
: : : The requirement of finish is Ra 0.3 to 0.6 for Al2O3+13TiO2 coating with layer thickness from 150 to 250 um. Ra 1.2 to 1.6 for Cr2O3 coating with layer thickness form 100 to 150 um.

: : Hi Juan

: : Brushing or flapper wheel techniques might work here particularly for the chromium oxide coating.
: : The finish achieved using brushing techniques depends somewhat on the powder grade used and the as-sprayed texture.

: : Have you referred to the powder manufacturer/supplier product data sheets. These sometimes give guidance on finishing.

: : Regards Gordon

: Hi.

: The powder grain -40 to 20 um.
: What kind of brushing method and equipment you recommend? do you have borchure, files or pictures?
: What is flapper wheel? do you have picture?

: Thanks a lot.

Hi Jian

I think it would be worth contacting some the abrasive finishing tool manufacturers or suppliers like 3M. http://www.3m.com/us/mfg_industrial/abrasives/

They are sometimes very helpful in suggesting products for applications like this. They may even provide samples for you to try.

regards Gordon
