I recently had an argument about whether adhesion of two surfaces, where glass is between two ceramic laminates surface and serves as the adherent upon heating, necessarily requires that some of the glass must diffuse, or impregnate the ceramic surface to an extent, else there will be no binding of the ceramic to the glass. That is, does adhesion necessarily require diffusion or impregnation of the glass into the ceramic ? If so, where do I find the proof ? Thank you very much.
